Obesity Surgery Support Groups
We offer two support groups for patients who have had or who are considering bariatric operations: The NJB Support Group and The LAP-BAND® Support Group. Our site also features a Facts and Info section to help people to better understand our field.
For Recovering Patients
The primary goal of our support groups is to serve as a means for exchanging information and developing a communal support network among patients who have had similar types of surgery. Often, recovering patients find it easier to meet their new dietary challenges when they are comforted by others who are already achieving similar goals.
For Prospective Patients
Individuals who are considering gastric restrictive surgery as a possible solution for achieving long term weight loss are also encouraged to sit in on meetings. Many prospective patients have been reassured by speaking with someone who has previously undergone the surgery.
Several members of our support groups have volunteered to discuss their experiences by telephone with interested patients. Contact us for details.
About The NJB Support Group
This is our general obesity surgery support group. Meetings are held monthly, conducted by Dr. Brolin personally. This supportive community is open to recovering patients and to prospective patients who want to learn more about obesity surgery.
